Follow steps indicated in POST error codes and Integrated management module error messages. Parent topic: Light path diagnostics panel Parent topic: Light path diagnostics Light path diagnostics LEDs The following table describes the LEDs on the light path diagnostics panel and suggested actions to See System-board switches and jumpers for the location of the SW4 switch block on the system board. If an action step is preceded by '(Trained technician only)', that step must be performed only by a Trained technician.
Remove the SAS/SATA RAID riser card, DIMMs in connectors 1 through 9, and the microprocessor in socket 1. PCI An error has occurred on a PCI bus or on the system board. Complete the following steps to correct the problem: Check the microprocessors that were just installed to make sure that they are compatible with each other (see Replacing a microprocessor and heat
Check the system-event logs for information about the error. If the CNFG LED and the PS LED are lit, the system issues an invalid power configuration error. Lit LEDs on this panel indicate the type of error that has occurred. Ibm Checkpoint Codes If the failure remains, go to the Lenovo Support Portal.
Figure 1. Ibm Checkpoint Code 9f Check the light path diagnostics LEDs and follow the instructions. Make sure that both power supplies installed in the server are of the same rating or wattage. http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/systemx/documentation/topic/com.ibm.sysx.7944.doc/c_light_path_panel.html Replace the failing fan, which is indicated by a lit LED near the fan connector on the system board (see Removing a hot-swap fan for more information).
Reset button: Press this button to reset the server and run the power-on self-test (POST). Ibm X3650 Dasd Error Light See Server features and specifications for the server temperature information. They must match in speed and cache size. Make sure that the power supplies are seated correctly and plugged in a good AC outlet.
Shut down the system and remove the power cords from the server; then, reconnect the server to power and restart the server. PS A power supply has failed or has been removed. Ibm Light Path Diagnostics Check the LEDs on the hard disk drives for the drive with a lit status LED and reseat the hard disk drive. Ibm X3650 M3 Checkpoint Code Display 9f Make sure that the airflow of the server is not blocked.
Fan A fan has failed, is operating too slowly, or has been removed. If the error remains, replace the following components in the order listed, restarting the server after each: Replace the hard disk drive (see Removing a hot-swap hard disk drive for more Replace any failing device. (Trained service technician only) Replace the system board. (Continued on the next page.) OVER SPEC (Continued) The power supplies are using more power than their maximum rating. If the CNFG LED is also lit, make sure that your QPI wrap cards or QPI scalability cables are installed and in the proper sequence. Ibm Light Path Diagnostics Checkpoint Codes
If the check log LED is lit, it indicates that information about an un-isolated fault condition in the server is available in the IMM event log or in the system-event log. Replace the hard disk drive backplane. Checkpoint code display: This display provides a checkpoint code that indicates the point at which the system stopped during the boot block and POST. If the problem remains, go to the "Before you call IBM Service" website.
Complete the following steps to correct the problem: Check the microprocessors that were just installed to make sure that they are compatible with each other and use the Setup utility and Ibm Light Path Diagnostics Dasd 9f MEM + CONFIG When both the MEM and CONFIG LEDs are lit, the memory configuration is invalid. FAN A fan has failed, is operating too slowly, or has been removed.
LED Description Action None, but the system error LED is lit. Configuration + Memory A hardware configuration error has occurred. Note: The server will not power-on when the microprocessor in socket 1 or 2 is not installed in the server. (Trained service technician only) Toggle the switch block (SW4), bit 3 Ibm X3650 Checkpoint Code Display Check the system-event log in the Setup utility or IMM error messages.
Replace the QPI wrap cards or the QPI scalability cables (if installed).Attention: Do not disconnect or connect any of the cables when the server or memory expansion module is connected to If the MEM LED and the CNFG LED are lit, complete the following step: Check the system-event log in the Setup utility or IMM error messages. Update the server firmware to the latest level (see Updating the firmware for more information). If any of the power channel error LEDs (A, B, C, D, E, or AUX) on the system board are lit also, see the section about power-channel error LEDs in Power
Check the system-event log to determine the reason for the lit LED (see Event logs). Table 1. The LED that is lit determines which device you should troubleshoot. See the system-error log (see Event logs).
If the failure remains, go to the "Before you call IBM Service" website for additional troubleshooting information. Restart the server to see whether the problem remains. (Trained service technician only) Reinstall the microprocessor in socket 1 and restart the server. An additional LED is lit next to a failing PCI slot. Light path diagnostics panel LEDs.
In Remind mode, the system-error LED flashes every 2 seconds until one of the following conditions occurs: All known errors are corrected. Microprocessor + Configuration When both the Microprocessor and Configuration LEDs are lit, the microprocessor configuration is invalid. Check the LEDs on the PCI slots to identify the component that caused the error. By placing the system-error LED indicator in Remind mode, you acknowledge that you are aware of the last failure but will not take immediate action to correct the problem.
Table 1. If the fan has failed, replace it. If the MEM LED and the CNFG LED are lit, complete the following steps: Check the system-event log in the Setup utility or IMM error messages. Replace any failing device. (Trained service technician only) Replace the system board.
Reseat the power supply (see Removing a hot-swap power supply and Replacing the hot-swap power supply). Note: Each time you install or remove a DIMM, you must disconnect the server from the power source; then, wait 10 seconds before restarting the server. LED Description Action Check log LED An error has occurred and cannot be isolated without performing certain procedures. PS A power supply has failed.
Over spec The power supplies are using more power than their maximum rating. LOG An error occurred. Three column table for documenting the LED, description, and action. Make sure that both power supplies installed in the server are of the same type.
